VTCA History

The Victorian Turf Cricket Association is a non-for-profit sporting organisation that manages turf cricket across the North-West region of Melbourne. Our clubs extend from Donnybrook in the North to Royal Park/Parkville centrally, Williamstown to our South and out to Melton and Sunbury in the West.

The Association manages sixty-five cricket clubs in total and includes some 250 teams and oversees 130 cricket matches across each weekend between October and March. Each year more clubs make requests for admission to our association.

The VTCA are the largest turf cricket association in Victoria and have provided the opportunity for turf cricket participation at a grass roots level on a continued basis since 1903, well into our 2nd Century or to be precise, our 120th year.

Hundreds of players who have represented Victoria at first class level and dozens of players who have represented Australia have done so progressing from VTCA cricket. Of the current crop of Australian players, Ashton Agar progressed from one of our clubs to now be part of the national squad.

The VTCA is overseen by a Board of Management consisting of eight selected nominees presented by the constituent clubs and led by President Zoran Havranek who is serving his second year as the VTCA Chairman.

Regular Day-to-Day operations is overseen by the Association Secretary Deanne Trewin, who is appointed to the role by the Board of Management, with the position reviewed by the VTCA Executive members annually.
